Please consider hosting a small fund raising event in your home. The money raised goes directly to stocking our clinics. At these events, Pam Burwell is available to speak about our work with plenty of photos and stories.

*********************************************************
We are always welcoming medical professionals and Spanish interpreters for future clinics. More than anything, a humanitarian spirit, a sense of adventure, and preternatural  flexibility is required.

Thinking about joining a Peacework Medical team? Teams form in June and July for service in the following year.  Contact us for a registration form on June 1.  You're encouraged to ask questions before then! Teams typically are complete within weeks; some positions are filled sooner than others.

Dear Friends of Peacework,

Peacework has always been driven by the passion of people
dedicated to our
simple mission:
** To provide basic primary care medical care and health education to those who may otherwise go without. **
There really is no other agenda - no religion, politics, or profit.
We pay for our very discounted medicines and materials through fundraising, and that is exactly where the money goes.
Discounts are sustained through grant writing and our year to year performance reports to pharmaceutical clearinghouses.
The PA Foundation of the AAPA has been generous in their giving since 2006.
You do not need to be a medical professional to help,
although in collecting some of the items listed below it may necessary.
If you are willing to help, please consider participating in any of the
following:
 1. Simply write a tax deductible check to "Peacework" and send it to the address at the bottom of this e mail.
OR - host a home party of a few (many?) of your closest friends. I'll come show photos and tell Peacework's story and stories...
Laura is the Orientation Counselor for this, having completed a successful one:
lfox1352@yahoo.com

2. Collect non medicinal items from hotels, dentists' offices, or "Dollar" Stores:
a. soap
b. reading glasses
c. toothbrushes (but no toothpaste - too heavy)
d. small hygiene related items (like hotel shampoo or lotion)

3. Purchase non Rx items in bulk:

a. ibuprofen, aspirin,  or acetominophen
b. throat / cough lozenges (not liquid - too heavy)
c. topical steroid or topical anti fungal

d. Vitamins - always need these. However, no iron for the children, since overdose can be fatal.
4. Rx items and medical supplies:
Essentially anything related to primary care medicine is reasonable. Non primary
care items, such as OR materials, in-dwelling devices and their care, parenteral
feeding tubes, etc.
If you need an official letter from Peacework to request collection of  meds at
your office or clinic, please ask.

Non primary care meds are also not needed: cholesterol, psych, ED, HRT, etc

We will package the following properly at our packing event, or if you are not in Phoenix, you will be advised as December nears:

a. non narcotic analgesics, anti-inflamatories, anti-pyretic: both adult and peds

b. antibiotics - adult and peds

c. GI meds, specifically those agents related to acid/gastritis control

d. topical steroids and PO steroids

e. topical anti fungals and PO anti fungals

f. URI meds

g. Allergy meds

h. opthalmic ointments, gtts, and lubricants

Materials:
Again, think primary care:
stethoscopes
opthalmoscopes
glucometers with strips
BP cuffs - all sizes
urine dip strips
pregnancy tests
ACE wraps
Finally, please keep an eye on the website for med packing (Dec 13, 2008) and other events that happen here.
Thank you for all you do, and for being a part of this small miracle.
love to all from Peacework Medical,
Pam
